Romans 15;4
4 For everything that
was written in former times was written for our instruction, so that through
endurance and through encouragement of the scriptures we may have hope.

There is a thing called dual fulfillment throughout the scriptures
The great infinite wisdom of the Lord our God who created the Bible.
He designed many of the great scriptures to have dual or double fulfillment, I.E. for the times back then, up to and including our current days.
In addition, there are many scriptures that are repeated in the Bible because repetition is the key to retention.
We must take precautions when we study the Word. The enemy hates when we attempt to study and understand the Bible.
He will do everything in his power to distract or
misguide our thinking.
We must always remember when we study the scriptures
to not lean on our own understanding.
Beware of other men's thinking and
understanding.
We must not put a lot of precedence in commentaries. They are other
men's understanding and can be driven by ulterior motives and subtly defused by
the enemy.
Remember the enemy focuses with all his power into
twisting the thoughts of pastors, teachers, scholars and writers because he
knows misinformation will reach the masses and destroy.
The best Commentary is the Bible itself.
To protect ourselves, it's imperative when we study
the scriptures we pray each time and ask for guidance and wisdom from the Holy
Spirit, which gives us clarity and protection from ourselves and our own
understanding.
In addition, we must ask for a shield of armor for
protection against the enemy's intervention when we study the Word.
Being baptized with the Holy Spirit assures us of
additional clarity.®
If we don't hear or see properly,
If we don't hear or see properly,
we do not understand
it.
If
we have no firm root, it disappears.
The scriptures must be studied correctly, it’s more than just reading.
The Word is our operators,
reference, instructions and technical manual for life here on earth. It is about goodness, exhortations and precepts to guide us in a life of growing in sanctification and righteousness as a Christian.
As men we think we can solve and understand by our own reasoning in this life. When it comes to the Bible, this process can’t be any farther from the truth. Of course, the enemy wants us to use our own reasoning.
We must remember who doesn’t want us to study the Word and wants us to get confused when we attempt to study the Word.
We must remember to rebuke and resist the enemy every time we study the Bible.
We must study, not just read, repetition is the key to retention. In school we memorized by continually repeating.
It’s so important that we posses strong faith, trust, hope, empathy and love when we study the Great Book of life.
The Bible is the way that is good and right.
Our God is a moral God.
Study verses with several different versions of the Bible. Not only do various versions assist because of word exchanges but also you are reading repeatedly.
Colossians 2;23
These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.
2 Timothy 3;16
Every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.
Proverbs 4;20-22
20 My child, pay attention to my words;
listen attentively to my sayings.
21
Do not let them depart from your sight,
guard them within your heart;
22
for they are life to those who find them
and healing to one’s entire body.
Deuteronomy 32;2
My teaching will drop like the rain, my sayings will drip like the dew, as rain drops upon the grass, and showers upon new growth.
Psalms 119;27
Help me to understand what your precepts mean! Then I can meditate on your marvelous teachings.
2 Timothy 4;3
For there will be a time when people will not tolerate sound teaching. Instead, following their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves, because they have an insatiable curiosity to hear new things.
Proverbs 3;1
[ Exhortations to Seek Wisdom and Walk with the Lord ] My child, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments.
Proverbs 4;2
Because I give you good instruction, do not forsake my teaching.
We must have faith, patience, love, and endurance.
2 Timothy 3;10
[Continue in What You Have Learned ] You, however, have followed my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, my faith, my patience, my love, my endurance.
Being baptized with the Holy Spirit increases understanding and retention while studying the Bible.
John 5;39
You study the scriptures thoroughly because you think in them you possess eternal life, and it is these same scriptures that testify about me.
Repetition is the key to retention that is why there are verses in the Old Testament related to verses in the New Testament. In addition, there are other verses in the New Testament repeated in other books in the New Testament.
Ask yourself questions about the scriptures you are studying.
Pose questions;
Write down a question related to the answer which is in the scriptures you are studying.
John 8;31-32
31 Then Jesus said to those Judeans who had believed him, “If you continue to follow my teaching, you are really my disciples 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

I thank the Lord for this great thirst, this craving I have that the Holy Spirit has instilled in me to study the Word.
Dear Lord, I come to you in Jesus' name. Thank you for all that you do and have done,
open my eyes to what I cannot see,
discipline me, help me fight pride and condemnation to others. Help me to be humble.
I pray for wisdom and guidance from the Holy Spirit each and every time I study your Word. Give me a shield of armor of protection against the enemy to fight away his flaming arrows.

13;18-23
The
Sower Explained
18 “Hear
then the parable of the sower. 19 When anyone
hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes
and snatches away what has been sown in his heart.
This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road. 20 The
one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the
word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet
he has no firm root
in himself, but is only temporary,
and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he
falls away. 22 And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns,
this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world and the
deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
23 And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil,
this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit
and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty.”
