Ego Wars
What
are ego wars?
They
are all around us, in politics, groups, Bible studies, etc.
Look
at political ego wars in DC, both sides think they are correct and the other is incorrect.
We
all think we are smarter than we are!
That
is pride.
We
all think we are an expert, that’s a false sense of security and arrogance.
Who
is behind this?
Who
loves these ego wars?
The
opposite of ego and pride is humility, which one does the Lord love?
The
Lord hates haughty (proud) eyes.
Egos
and pride develop conceit and arrogance.
Too
many times in Bible studies we use our thought process, our reasoning to interpret
the scriptures, that’s what the enemy wants. The scriptures can only be
interpreted correctly when in humility we ask for and are guided by the Holy
Spirit.
What
is arrogance?
“I
know more than others”.
“I
am smarter than others”.
“I
did it on my own”.
Arrogance
= conceit.
“I
know more than you do!”
Ego
wars are all about pride!
The
Lord detests pride!
“
I am correct, you are wrong”.
Pride,
egos, and arrogance are the reason God talks about the rich not entering the
Kingdom of Heaven!
People
leaning on their own understanding.
Some
men in Bible studies believe they know more than others. They attempt to prove,
in
reality they live on milk not solid food.
They
think they know more!
When
guys argue and disagree on certain dates in the scriptures what is the point?
That’s
not the point of learning what the scriptures are teaching us!
This
is a diversion which comes from the enemy.
Humility
is the opposite of pride, which one does the Lord hate?
The
enemy loves to detour, the enemy loves when men in Bible study sidetrack and
distract.
The
enemy hates Bible studies and will anything he can to confuse and side track.
If
I only knew 1/2 of what I think I know I would be twice as smart as I am now.
___________
Proverbs
19;27
Cease
listening, my son, to discipline, And you will stray from the words
of knowledge.
1
Timothy 1;6
For
some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless
discussion.
1
Corinthians 1;19
For it
is written, “I will destroy the wisdom
of the wise, And the cleverness of the clever I will
set aside.
(This
scripture means people who believe they are wise in their own understanding,
which Is all about PRIDE and EGO)
1
Timothy 6;3-5
Teach
them and exhort them about these things. 3 If someone spreads false
teachings and does not agree with sound words (that is, those of our Lord Jesus
Christ) and with the teaching that accords with godliness, 4 he is
conceited and understands nothing, but has an unhealthy interest
in controversies and verbal disputes. This gives rise to envy,
dissension, slanders, evil suspicions, 5 and constant
bickering by people corrupted in their minds and deprived of the truth, who
suppose that godliness is a way of making a profit.
Understanding
and absorbing the Word.
We
must understand the Word correctly, how do we do that?
Not
by leaning on our own understanding or reasoning!
Not
by our own egotistical opinions.
There
is only one way to understand the Word, that’s by praying for wisdom and
guidance from the Holy Spirit each time we study the Word.
In
addition, we should pray for a shield of armor of protection to fight off the
enemy and any evil spirits. The enemy detests when we study the scriptures.
Proverbs
18;2
A
fool takes no pleasure in
understanding but only in disclosing what is on his mind.
Matthew
13;18-23
18 “So
listen to the parable of the sower; 19 When anyone hears the word about
the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and
snatches what was sown in his heart; this is the seed sown along the
path. 20 The seed sown on rocky ground is the person who hears the word
and immediately receives it with joy. 21 But he has no root in himself and
does not endure; when trouble or persecution comes because of the word,
immediately he falls away. 22 The seed sown among thorns is the person who
hears the word, but worldly cares and the seductiveness of wealth choke the
word, so it produces nothing. 23 But as for the seed sown on good soil,
this is the person who hears the word and understands. He bears fruit,
yielding a hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown.”
Job
12;24
He
deprives the leaders of the earth of their understanding; he makes them wander in a
trackless desert waste.
(Is
this happening in the US government today?)
Proverbs
3;5
Trust
in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.
Proverbs
18;2
A
fool takes no pleasure in understanding but only in disclosing what is
on his mind.
Hebrews
5;13
For
everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of
righteousness, for he is an infant.
1
Corinthians 3;2
I
gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive
it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able.
Hebrews
5;12
For
though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone
to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come
to need milk and not solid food.
1
Corinthians 3;2
I
gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to
receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able,
Hebrews
5;12
For
though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone
to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come
to need milk and not solid food.
Hebrews
5;14
But solid
food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to
discern good and evil.
