Drifting
Drifting
away
Hardening
of the heart.
Neglected
salvation,
possibly
leading to reprobate and apostasy.
As
Christians we are warned against rusting and falling away in the scriptures.
Just
because we asked for forgiveness and accepted Jesus into our hearts that
doesn’t mean we can’t slip back.
We
must stay tuned up.
There
are precepts and exhortations in the Word for Christian believers who actually
have Christ Jesus in their heart.
We
can fall away,
there
are some church’s that believe “once saved always saved”, this is not true.
(That’s
what the enemy wants us to believe.)
If
we accept Jesus in our heart we can’t just sit back and not grow in
righteousness and sanctification. We are on this earth to serve others guided
by Jesus.
As
a Christian we can backslide and fall away! We are we warned in the Word
against drifting, falling away, and hardening of our heart!

Hebrews
2;1-5
Warning
Against Drifting Away
1
Therefore we
must pay closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not
drift away.
2
For if the
word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience
received a just recompence of reward;
3 How
shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to
be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
4 God also bearing them
witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of
the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
5 For unto the angels hath he
not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
Hebrews
3;12-13
The
Peril of Unbelief
12 Take care, brethren, that
there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away
from the living God. 13 But encourage one another day after
day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened
by the deceitfulness of sin.
Ephesians
4;18
They
are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because
of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.
Romans
1;28-31
28 And just as they did not see
fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a
depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29 being
filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder,
strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers,
haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to
parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful;
32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those
who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but
also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

Peter 2;20-22
20 For if after they have
escaped the filthy things of the world through the rich knowledge of our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ, they again get entangled in them and succumb to them,
their last state has become worse for them than their first. 21 For
it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness
than, having known it, to turn back from the holy commandment
that had been delivered to them. 22 They are illustrations
of this true proverb: “A dog returns to its own vomit,” and “A sow,
after washing herself, wallows in the mire.”
Hebrews
10;26-31
26 For
if we deliberately keep on sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for
sins is left for us, 27 but only a certain fearful expectation of
judgment and a fury of fire that will consume God’s enemies. 28 Someone
who rejected the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the
testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much greater
punishment do you think that person deserves who has contempt for
the Son of God, and profanes the blood of the covenant that made
him holy, and insults the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know
the one who said, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay,”
and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” 31 It is
a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
