As a Christian we must grow continually with sanctification, righteousness, faith, and
justification
with the almighty Lord Jesus Christ.

then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who
causes the growth.

Warning
Against Drifting Away
1
Therefore we
must pay closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

Growth in Christian Virtue
1 To those who have received a
faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior,
Jesus Christ: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the
knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; 3 seeing that His divine
power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through
the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 4 For
by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by
them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the
corruption that is in the world by lust. 5 Now for this very reason
also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your
moral excellence, knowledge, 6 and in your knowledge,
self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your
perseverance, godliness, 7 and in your godliness, brotherly
kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if
these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither
useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For
he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having
forgotten his purification from his former sins. 10 Therefore,
brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and
choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble;
11 for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.
12 Therefore, I will always be
ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them,
and have been established in the truth which is present with you. 13 I
consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you
up by way of reminder, 14 knowing that the laying aside of my earthly
dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. 15 And
I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you will be able to
call these things to mind.
Eyewitnesses
16 For we did not follow
cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our
Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For
when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this
was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, “This is My beloved Son with whom I am
well-pleased”— 18 and we ourselves heard this utterance made from
heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.
19 So we have the prophetic word made
more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark
place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. 20 But
know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of
one’s own interpretation, 21 for no prophecy was ever made by an
act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

The
Rewards of Wisdom
1 My
son, do not forget my teaching,
But
let your heart keep my commandments;
2
For length of days and years of life
And
peace they will add to you.
3 Do
not let kindness and truth leave you;
Bind
them around your neck,
Write
them on the tablet of your heart.
4 So
you will find favor and good repute
In
the sight of God and man.
5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And
do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In
all your ways acknowledge Him,
And
He will make your paths straight.
7 Do
not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear
the Lord and turn away from evil.
8 It
will be healing to your body
And
refreshment to your bones.
9
Honor the Lord from your wealth
And
from the first of all your produce;
10
So your barns will be filled with plenty
And
your vats will overflow with new wine.
11
My son, do not reject the discipline of the Lord
Or loathe
His reproof,
12
For whom the Lord loves He reproves,
Even
as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.
13
How blessed is the man who finds wisdom
And
the man who gains understanding.
14
For her profit is better than the profit of silver
And
her gain better than fine gold.
15
She is more precious than jewels;
And
nothing you desire compares with her.
16
Long life is in her right hand;
In
her left hand are riches and honor.
17
Her ways are pleasant ways
And
all her paths are peace.
18
She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her,
And
happy are all who hold her fast.
19
The Lord by wisdom founded the earth,
By
understanding He established the heavens.
20
By His knowledge the deeps were broken up
And
the skies drip with dew.
21 My
son, let them not vanish from your sight;
Keep
sound wisdom and discretion,
22
So they will be life to your soul
And
adornment to your neck.
23
Then you will walk in your way securely
And
your foot will not stumble.
24
When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
When
you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
25
Do not be afraid of sudden fear
Nor
of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes;
26
For the Lord will be your confidence
And
will keep your foot from being caught.
27
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
When
it is in your power to do it.
28
Do not say to your neighbor, Go, and come back,
And
tomorrow I will give it, When you have it with you.
29
Do not devise harm against your neighbor,
While
he lives securely beside you.
30
Do not contend with a man without cause,
If
he has done you no harm.
31
Do not envy a man of violence
And
do not choose any of his ways.
32
For the devious are an abomination to the Lord;
But
He is intimate with the upright.
33
The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked,
But
He blesses the dwelling of the righteous.
34
Though He scoffs at the scoffers,
Yet
He gives grace to the afflicted.
35
The wise will inherit honor,
But
fools display dishonor.
Psalm
65;10
You
water its furrows abundantly, You settle its ridges, You soften it with
showers, You bless its growth.
1
Corinthians 3;6
I
planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth.
1
Corinthians 3;7
So
then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who
causes the growth.
Ephesians
4;16
from
whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint
supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth
of the body for the building up of itself in love.
Colossians
2;19
and
not holding fast to the head, from whom the entire body, being supplied and
held together by the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth
which is from God.
Ezekiel
17;9
“Say
to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Will it thrive? Will it not be
uprooted and stripped of its fruit so that it withers? All its new b
will wither. It will not take a strong arm or many people to pull it up by the
roots.
