Light and Darkness

God is Light

God refers to light and dark in the Word

There is darkness in this world.

What are some definitions of darkness in this world?

As Christians our light is suppose to shine for others to see, our light shouldn’t be low or fogged up.

How do we have our bright lights on?

Of course the word light has various meanings.

What are some other meanings of the word light?

We need light in this in this world, light at night in our homes, lights on our cars at night. Flashlights to see.

God is light, the enemy is dark.

God has no darkness at all.

God shines in our heart to give us light.

Jesus said; “ I am the light of the world”.

We are told to let our light shine before others so others can see our good works and we glorify our Father in Heaven.

According to the Word light has no fellowship with darkness.

If we follow Jesus correctly we will have the light of life.

We are to walk as children of the world in light.

Our light can have various degrees of brightness. Our light might not shine too well if we are cloudy, or we are fogged up.

We need to make sure our light always has the proper voltage.

The truth of light and the light of life is specific in the Word.

Warning; if we say we have fellowship with God but we walk in darkness it is a lie.

The Bible says, the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.

________

Genesis 1;3-5

God said, “Let there be light.” And there was light! God saw that the light was good, so God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.” There was evening, and there was morning, marking the first day.

John 3;19-21

19 Now this is the basis for judging: that the light has come into the world and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil deeds hates the light and does not come to the light, so that their deeds will not be exposed. 21 But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds have been done in God.

1 Thessalonians 5;4-5

But you, brothers and sisters, are not in the darkness for the day to overtake you like a thief would. For you all are sons of the light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of the darkness.

John 8;12

1 John 1;5-10

God Is Light
This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

Ephesians 5:6-14

Live in the Light
Let nobody deceive you with empty words, for because of these things God’s wrath comes on the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them, for you were at one time darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of the lightfor the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth— 10 trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For the things they do in secret are shameful even to mention. 13 But all things being exposed by the light are made evident. 14 For everything made evident is light, and for this reason it says:

“Awake, O sleeper!

Rise from the dead,

and Christ will shine on you!”

Acts 26;18

18 to open their eyes so that they turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in me.

[ The Glorious Return ] “But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light.

Luke 8;17

For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light.

Luke 11;36

If therefore your whole body is full of light, with no dark part in it, it will be wholly illumined, as when the lamp illumines you with its rays.”

Luke 12;3

Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed upon the housetops.

In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.

John 1;7

He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him.

1 John 1;5-10

God Is Light, So We Must Walk in the Light.
Now this is the gospel message we have heard from him and announce to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him and yet keep on walking in the darkness, we are lying and not practicing the truth. But if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we do not bear the guilt of sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.

and creates calamity.

and a light to illumine my path.

Matthew 10;26-33
Fear God, Not Man
26 “Do not be afraid of them, for nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, and nothing is secret that will not be made known. 27 What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light, and what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the housetops. 28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 Even all the hairs on your head are numbered. 31 So do not be afraid; you are more valuable than many sparrows.

32 “Whoever, then, acknowledges me before people, I will acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever denies me before people, I will deny him also before my Father in heaven.
